Did IOS 18.2.1 for iPhone automatically enable AI on phone and give access to all my apps?!

Did this automatically enable AI on iPhones? Without my permission? And turn it on for all apps that requires me to opt out?

iPhone 14, iOS 18

If this is your iPhone 14 as stated in your tagline, it does not support Apple Intelligence in the first place. Second, if it did support it, Apple Intelligence would be automatically turned on when updated to iOS 18.3, not iOS 18.2.1. Third, every app does not support Apple Intelligence by default, the app developers must make their app compatible with it.

For compatible devices, which as Zachyy correctly points out if you own an iPhone 14, you don't and can't have Apple Intelligence. But since you want a direct answer, NO, iOS 18.2.1 did not automatically enable Apple Intelligence for anyone. At the time of 18.2.1, Apple Intelligence was opt-in only. Meaning someone would have to turn it on if they wanted to use it. But again, if you have an iPhone 14, it doesn't apply to your iPhone.

Two people have now clarified that that the AI has been automatically enabled by Apple, but After the cited update. And in case you felt anyone implied your problems just couldn’t be true: There are new updates in February specifically for iPhone 14. I’m guessing they are meant to solve your issues :)

It was enabled automatically in iOS 18.3, not 18.2.1. If they don't want to use it, all they have to do is turn it off. But for anyone who didn't opt-in when it was first offered, it will be automatically enabled and again, can easily be turned off. It is after all, a built in feature to iOS for devices which qualify for Apple Intelligence.

You are writing back to me. I don't have any issues which need solving. And again, no iPhone 14 can run Apple Intelligence, regardless of whether there are updates rolled out his month or not.
