Printer cannot be unpaused on MacBook Pro

I'm trying to print to my HP Color LaserJet M252dw printer from my MacBook Pro. The printer queue is paused and will not unpause. I've reset the printing system, rebooted both the Mac and printer with no luck. It does this in any application (printing a test page, PDF, Word doc, etc). I can print from my iPhone and from my Windows machine.

I've always been able to do this before. I'm running on Sonoma 14.6. Any insights into what's going on??

Thanks

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 14.6

The current stable release of Sonoma including bug fixes, security updates is macOS 14.7.2 — I would start there

Did Sonoma switch over to the "Print Center.app"...(?) Use your Spotlight search if in doubt

Same problem, drove me crazy. Solution was to update the expired printer certificate using these steps:

Open Systems Stettings>Printers &Scanners

Click the printer name and select Printer Info

Click Options and Supplies

Click Show Printer Web Page - You may have to make a security exception to continue.

Under Security, click Certificates

Click Configure

Choose Create a New Self-Signed Certificate

Edit the Validity Period if you desire, then click Finish.

Hope this solves your issue!

Thanks. I tried this and here's what I got back:

The certificate request has been created.

To submit this request to a Certificate Authority (CA), click [Save] to save the certificate request to a file. The file is in PEM/Base64 encoding and needs to be given to a CA for certificate generation and signing. Once you receive the signed certificate from the CA, return to the Printer Certificate Options page and select "Install a Certificate." Your certificate request is as follows.

It isn't clear what i'm supposed to do now. I found the file that it's saved to but when i try and load it, it says it's an invalid file type. What did you have to do?

Thanks.
