Pages substitutions dialog lagging on macOS 15.2

Has anyone else had problems with the Pages Substitutions dialog since updating to Mac OS 15.2 (Sequoia)? I frequently use this dialog to replace all the "dumb" quotes with smart quotes, since I use dictation a lot, and it always types "dumb" quotes. Before, when I would pull up the Substitutions dialog and click on "Replace All," it would take less than 1 second to do so. Now, however, when I click the "Replace All" button, it takes anywhere from 45-60 seconds to complete, all the while leaving me to stare at the spinning lollipop.

I've tried quitting Pages and reopening it, and even rebooting my MacBook Pro, but neither one helps.

(I'm working on a MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2021, with M1 Max chip and 64 GB of RAM).

Got to just love this hosting software that red screens your post but posts part of it anyway leading to two entries…

When you are dictating text into Pages, ensure that you have this in Pages Settings > Auto-Correction:

[ ✓ ] Use smart quotes and dashes

Double quotes [ "abc" ↕︎ ]

That is the first double-quote entry on that selection menu. The last entry is curled double quotes, but dictation only produces straight double quotes.

And then when dictating text in Pages, use this syntax (without the angle brackets):

See <open double quote>Spot<close double quote> run circles around Jane<period>

If you want to manually enter curled double quotes:

Left “ option+[
Right ” shift + option + [

Back in 2021, I posted a reply of how to con dictation into entering curled double quotes via Accessibility > Voice Dictation > Commands… panel, but Sequoia would not give me access to that Commands… panel, instead popping this dialog:

Tested: Pages v14.3, Sequoia v15.3 on M4 Mac Mini Pro.

That will use the quotes that you selected above for your particular language punctuation format.

I have those options selected, but when I dictate, it still types "dumb" quotes (i.e., straight quotes, rather than curly ones). And whether I dictate "See <open double quote> Spot <close double quote> run," or simply "See <open quote> Spot <close quote> run," either way, it types straight quotes.

Also, I've been using this Auto-correct feature for years. This delay problem only surfaced with the newest OS release. And it only appears if the document is more than about 4-5 pages long.

I was unable to get Dictation to enter smart quotes when deliberately configuring Pages to use them. There is nothing in its verbal controls that will force it to use smart quotes either. I don't see any user fix for this issue unless you can get the next paragraph to work.

Did you attempt to create a custom command as I pointed out in my 2021 link above, and did you get the same Settings Error as I did? That has to be a bug in v15.3 as I have always been able to access that Commands… panel previously.
