Not able to duplicate a project in iMovie

All the on-line FAQs say to simply duplicate the project under the drop-down menu and it should create a second project with an appended #2. When I do that, nothing shows up. Help?

Hi,

Possibly it is a preferences problem. Try deleting (resetting) iMovie preferences by opening iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new empty library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. (To reopen your old library close iMovie and go to your Movie folder or wherever you have your old iMovie library stored. Double click on the library’s icon.  iMovie will open in that library.) Possibly you may need to reboot to set the changes.  Deleting preferences is a safe procedure that will not cause data loss or disruption to your project.

Adding to my previous post, if you still are having no success with the Duplicate Project function you can use a workaround. Do an Edit/Select All of the media in your project, and then Edit/Copy, Edit/Paste, it into the timeline of a newly created project. That will create a duplicate project. Your edits will carry over.
