Why won't my Apple Watch SE pair with my iPhone 8?

iWatch SE 2nd generation is incompatible with iphone 8 if the watch software has been updated. I just bought iWatch SE 2nd generation and it cannot be paired with the iphone 8 I received for Christmas contrary to what Apple support confirmed me before my purchase.

Does one of you faced the same issue and been reimbursed by Apple ? Or Does Apple proceed with an exchange ?

The article Apple Watch and iPhone compatibility - Apple Support refers to the Apple Watch SE having watchOS 9 installed, when this model has been introduced.

But, newly sold Apple Watches are always updated to the latest watchOS, in the case of an Apple Watch SE 2nd. Gen, the latest version of watchOS 11. And this watchOS requires an iPhone XS ore newer, which is able to install iOS 18.

The only way to pair the watch would be asking the Apple Support at the Apple Store, if they can downgrade the watch.

Hi, I would like to make a claim for this subject. Can someone tell me the correct process ?

I went to the Genius Bar and they cannot do anything for my case, they just say I should buy another iPhone !!!!

To summaryse: I contacted Apple to confirm the compatibility of the Watch with an iPhone 8 in December. They confirmed and sent me the following link: Apple Watch and iPhone compatibility - Apple Support

I bought the iPhone in January to be compatible with the Watch I received for Christmas. Now, Apple is saying that the Watch is not compatible due to the watch software. So, I have now a brand new Watch and a new iPhone (refurbished) but they can not be paired. I captured all messages from Apple confirming the compatibility. Please tell me how I can escalate the subject to Apple. This is not fair to tell people that. devices are compatible when they are not.

Regards

Thanks for the reply.

That's my point, Support (contacted by phone) said they are not able to downgrade the watch.

If it is possible to have it performed in an Apple shop I will be more than happy to go and have it downgraded. I'm very disapointed as I discussed with them before buying the watch to make sure it matches with my iphone.

Hi,

My problem has been solve.

I finally insisted to Apple support. Apple support sent my iWatch to the factory for a downgrade.

In less than 7 days, I have my watch back with the appropriate software to be paired with the iPhone 8.

So, I highly recommend to insist with the Apple support. They found the solution without having to buy a new phone. Thanks Apple
