Looking for a 40" display to use with my 2023 Mac Pro

I am running a 2023 Mac Pro (love it). Would like to have a bigger display - running an old Apple 30" Cinema alongside an HP ZR30w display. I work with audio so I am not looking for a high end display that a video editor might need. I want something that will give me more room to see all my libraries and my DAW along with other audio programs. Is there a reasonably priced 40" monitor that would have a simple connection? If not, are there any other large recommended displays out there?

Thanks very much!

Mac Pro, macOS 14.7

don't fixate on just the size, or you will buy a great display that does not meet your needs.

for example, you could place a 40-in TV set there. But Its 1920 by 1080 resolution would look "grainy", because its pixels are just bigger, NOT more plentiful. Even next to the Apple 30-in display with its 2560 by 1600 resolution in 30-in diagonal size.

you need MORE pixels per inch than you have now to avoid disappointment.

The size of the display has no bearing on the available room to have windows.

It's the resolution that affects this.

You can have a 55inch screen and still have the same room as a 27" screen if resolution is not high enough.

I would find a 40" screen to be completely uncomfortable to use as sitting just a few inched away from it at a desk would require me to twist my neck to see everything and that's going to be very tiring.

Also, you'll just get larger windows taking up the same space as before unless it has a higher resolution to match.

If you really want more space, get a second monitor a similar 30" monitor with a higher resolution than the Cinema Display and extend your display to it.

AsI posted, I currently am running two (2) displays. An Apple 30" Cinema display and an HP ZR30w 30" display. It has been working pretty well but my Apple display is finally failing (I have owned it since brand new, probably close to 20 years now). I don't want to buy a new Apple display as they are ridiculously overpriced and overkill for what I need. I like having the 2 screens so I can spread out my applications but I was thinking I could use one (1) 40" instead of my current two(2) 30" displays. I know about pixels and resolution. My screens are approximately 20" - 24" away from me so there is no neck twisting required. I am looking for a high resolution display but I guess I would settle for another 30" if that was what was best. Btw, they are both mounted with VESA mounts on floating arms and can be adjusted up and down and tilted in and out.

Thanks.

Again, resolution and physical size are not related.

You can get a high resolution 30" display as well as a high resolution 40" display, or a low resolution version of each.

A 4K 30" display will have the same amount of room for windows as a 40" 4K display. Just that the windows in the 40" display will look larger in comparison.

The new display does not need to be an Apple display. Dell, BenQ and Samsung make great displays at much lower prices.
