iTunes library backup from original iPod to newer computer

The device is my original 60GB iPod. I also have the orignal MacBook computer, both purchased in about 2006. The iPod is still functional. I have not powered up the Mac laptop in several years; it was the device I used for maintain my iTunes library and loading new music. Is there any way short of taking these devices to an Apple store to get my iTunes library transferred to my current MacBook Pro or Desktop computer?
