Connecting Sony DCR-TRV350 Camcorder to MacMini (Late2012) and using iMovie 10.2.5

Am trying to digitize old 8mm camcorder movies. My Sony camcorder can play old 8mm tapes, has USB and iLink ports. The iMovie 10.2.5 does not list this camcorder as compatible with iMovie. Any suggestions?

iPhone SE, iOS 18

Apple no longer list individual DV and HDV compatible camcorders but state that they are compatible .

Your Digital8 should behave the same as a mini DV camcorder as far as iMovie is concerned.

You will need a FireWire cable described as 4 pin to 9 pin.

The 4 pin end connects to the iLink port on your cam’ , and the 9 pin end connects to your FireWire port on the Mac.

Do not be tempted to connect using USB on the cam’ to the USB on the Mac as this will not work.
