Double click not working

When i try to open the apple wallet by double clicking the side button, it locks the phone instead of opening apple pay. How can I change this bc the feature is on in the settings but wont make it happen.

iPad, iPadOS 18

Please follow this path,

iPhone > Settings > Accessibility > Side Button > adjust click speed to suit your ability to double click at the speed required to initiate Apple Pay

The most common issue is clicking too slow. Try slowing the clicks down in Settings and then double clicking as fast as you can.

Double clicking side button does not open Wallet app. Double clicking side button activates Apple Pay, verifies Face ID of owner and prepares default payment method.

Are you trying to open Wallet app or initiate an Apple Pay transaction?

Yeah i am trying to activate apple pay. When i double clicking the button it just locks the phone. It doesn’t let me see the cards i have in the apple pay either it just shuts off.

Yes i did try to adjust the speed but it kept shutting off too. I also went to the “double click side button” on the wallet and apple pay section in setting and it is turned on.
