Books won't play my new book

I have never used Books before. I bought a book and when I try to play it, it asks for my AppleID: I give it the ID and nothing happens. It just asks for the ID again. I know the ID is correct: I used it to buy the book. Apple Support told me to update my system to Sequoia 15.2, and that would fix the problem. It did not. What do I try now? Can I download a new version of Books? Mine is Version 7.2 (6326).
