Phone recordings (.m4a) do not get automatically turned into Pages documents. One can copy/paste a phone recording into an open Pages document where it appears as an audio icon and its .m4a file is retained internal to the Pages document.

However, if this is the case, and you want to recover that audio content, you should open that Pages document on a Mac; click once on that audio icon to select it, and then refer to the associated Audio panel.

In the above example, I copied a voice recording from Voice Memos on the Mac onto an open Pages document. The pasted-movie name is Pages handling of this paste activity and not my name choice. Not a movie by any means.

On that panel you will see the wording File Info and directly beneath it an icon with the audio .m4a file name. Click once on that icon and in one gesture, drag and drop that audio file to your Desktop.

I am uncertain if or how you can do this on iOS with Pages owing to differences in interface implementation.
