Face ID issue after ios 18.2.1 update

They are unable to help you. They will send you to the Apple Store for a hardware issue. It’s not hardware, it’s the update. Hopefully they will come out with the patch soon.

I have the same issue. Rebooting didn't help so I tried resetting Face ID. When I try to set it up again, the front camera is working but the box that says "position your face within the frame" tells me that my face is out of view even though I'm clearly squarely in the box. I did notice that if I put my face halfway off the right side of the screen I briefly get the circle and it tries to detect me, but quickly goes back to telling me that I'm out of view.

This is a wrong conclusion in my opinion. I rebooted my phone three times, but the problem was not resolved. Looks like I'm going to have to call the Apple Support and ask for their help.

I thought my issue about the black screen when opening the camera app and slow face id in some apps had been solved after 18.2.1 update . It turns out that I just recently experience the same issue and the only way to fix it is by restarting my phone. I’m using Iphone pro 16.

I am having the same issue as a result of the update and hope Apple can get on top of this quickly. I was doing work on my phone this morning prior in doing the update with Face I.D working with no issues. Then i had time to do the update and now since i get the same message. Apple Support done a remote diagnostics and advised me to go into the genius bar.

I’ll bet they are messing with updates to force people to upgrade to a newer phone. I’ve used the Note App since I first started with Apple products with no issues. Then they added Face ID which worked great till the last update. Since then I’ve had to get my phone replaced because of software issues and things not working like the camera and now Face ID not working as it should. Maybe the next update will fix this and other issues.

Any work around to have the Face ID work again? In my case it just show Position your face within the frame and nothing happen after reset to factory and restore data from icloud.

Face ID is not capturing no matter how you rotate your face. It just a frame with your face and not registering or capturing your Face ID. This must be bug as front camera is working.

I am the same boat as well. I have rebooted several times, tried to re-setup Face ID, same 'Frame' issue. Apple, please fix.

Folks, had the same FaceID issue after the iOs 18.2.1 update and searched for this and came across a youtube video about what to do after the iOs 18 update and the guy suggested rebooting the phone by quicly pressing the vol up, then the vol down keys and then pressing and holding down the side button until the phone turned off to reset the phone. You need to press in sequence quickly. Well...it worked Face ID is back! I was very sceptical but here I am letting you know to give it a try. It is a definite software issue!

I am having the same issue, faceid was working fine until the 18.2.1 update. I reset FaceID and was able to rescan my face but its still not working.

i have raised a support case and now have to take my phone in to be looked at.

I had the same issue. I removed FaceID, restarted the phone, and configured FaceID. That fixed my problems. Hope that helps.

After a night on charge it decided to work this morning. Very strange as I spent time with Apple Support and they ran diagnostics to no avail.

All I can say is after a full charge it worked today
