MacBook Pro M4 ultrawide monitor compatibility issue with Samsung Odyssey G9

I cannot connect my Samsung Odyssey G9 ultra wide monitor with my MacBook Pro M4. I have tried all sorts of cables, but the monitor is not recognised. I have read online that this is an issue with M4 MacBook Pro. When is Apple planning to fix this issue?

but but but...,

the specs I could find based on that description said the display had exactly:

  • Interface
  • Headphone
  • Yes
  • Micro HDMI
  • 1
  • Micro HDMI Version
  • 2.1
  • HDCP Version (Micro HDMI)
  • 2.2
  • HDCP Version (HDMI)
  • 2.2
  • USB Type-C Downstream Version
  • 3.2 Gen1
  • USB-C Upstream Port (ONLY DATA)
  • 1
  • USB Type-C Downstream Port
  • 2

I see no reference to DisplayPort input at all.

are there multiple models of "Samsung Odyssey G9" ??

what is your EXACT model number?

¿what do you call "full native resolution" ?

¿do you have High Dynamic Range ON or Off?

that appear to be a 5120 by 1440 display (;ole the top half of a 5K display) with High Dynamic range (10 bits/color)

it appear to support Micro HDMI version 2.1 and USB-C

At these VERY high data rates, any-old-cable is not likely to be high enough spec to run that display.

over USB-C the Mac will clearly support it at 30 Hz, higher rates are unknown because it is non-standard. your USB-C cable must be certified for SuperSpeed PLUS or 20 G bits/sec, and ONE meter or shorter.

over a DIRECT HDMI cable that adapts to mini HDMI, the Mac will clearly support it at 30 Hz, higher rates are unknown because it is non-standard. Your HDMI cable MUST be certified ULTRA spec cable -- nothing less will do.

Thanks for your response. I changed the cables, and after using the BetterDisplay app, I connected my Samsung Odyssey G9, an ultra-wide monitor, to a MacBook Pro M4. I think the problem is with macOS; it's not a Hardware problem. Thanks once again for your help. I strongly recommend that other people facing this problem try the BetterDisplay app.
