Multiple Group FaceTime Calls

For the last week, I have received multiple missed call notifications for FaceTime video calls from the same group text thread I’m on.

At first, it appeared to be a butt-dial and one person in the group owned up to it. But the antics have continued, plus there’s a strangeness as well— on the first day of this mystery, I texted that same group to ask what was happening, but no one saw my messages. That same day another group member discovered they could no longer receive phone calls ( they called their provider and got help unblocking calls).

Is there a way to determine who initiated a FaceTime group call? Has anyone else heard of something so strange?

Aside from blocking the members of the group text, are there any other steps I can take?
