Separating JPEG + raw in photos on iPad

I have different types of photo formats in my library. I have jpeg photos, raw photos, and combined jpeg+raw photos.

If I use the photos app on my iPad I can not extract or download the raw file from a jpeg+raw photo. On the photos application on my Mac it is possible to extract to extract or download only the raw part so I can use it in a raw editor (Adobe LR, Affinity Photo)

The only way I can download the raw part of the jpeg+raw photo is to go via the icloud.com website and download via “More Download options…” , and download unmodified Originals and get the raw part from the downloaded zip file.

This is cumbersome to do. Do I miss something in the Photo’s app on the iPad to make this more streamlined? Or is this a feature that will be added in a future version of the Photos app for iOS?

I had the same issue, and it seems like the Photos app currently does not support exporting RAW files from JPEG + RAW photos. However, since you mentioned you use Adobe LR, there is a work around using the Lightroom App on iPad.

To export a single RAW photo:

1) Open the Lightroom App on iPad, under the "Device" tab, locate the photo.

2) Open the photo, tap the share icon on the top right corner.

3) Tap "Export as..." and select "Original" as file type.

4) Tap the check mark and Apple's share menu will pop up where you can choose to save to Files.

To export multiple RAW photos:

1) Open the Lightroom App on iPad, under the "Device" tab, locate the photos.

2) Long press to select all the photos you want to extract the RAW files from.

3) Tap "Import" and then "Import into Lightroom".

4) Under the "Lightroom" tab, long press to select all the photos you just imported.

5) Tap the share icon, tap "Export as..." and select "Original" as file type.

4) Tap the check mark and Apple's share menu will pop up where you can choose to save to Files.
