disk too slow or system overload imac logic

Running Logic Pro 11 on a 3Ghz 6-core Intel i5 iMac, I am experiencing a recurring error message: "Disk too slow or System Overload". I have ample space on the machine.

The messages Disk too slow or System Overload are two different ones.

Disk too slow can happen when your disk can't handle the data, e.g because your disk is too slow( ->try a SSD), to much audio tracks, the connection is to weak (usb 2 vs usb3 vs Thunderbolt, avoid hubs), not enough free space on your hard drives (you need a minimum of 10-15% free space on any hard drive).

System Overload means your CPU can't handle all the processing. Mostly caused by to many plugins. A typical way to treat this is to increase the buffer size and secondly to bounce or freeze your tracks but this can cause the disk error again. Just a quick tip, close all other applications while using Logic and learn to use the plugins efficiently (use sends for reverb and delay instead of inserting them on a track individually, discard any plugin you don't need).
