iPhone says I’m hacked and to fix it

I’m new to iPhones. I have a post come up that says your iPhone has been hacked. You’re being tracked. Fix it now. I don’t know how I don’t know what to do. I have no one to tell me.

iPhone 16 Plus, iOS 18

That’s an advertisement, and probably advertising for a product (probably a “coffee shop” VPN, based on past experience) that you don’t need, which badly solves a problem that hasn’t existed for a decade or so and that you don't have, but badly solves the problem in a way perfect for personally-identified network metadata collection.

Websites cannot scan your device, as malware scans are a deeply intrusive operation. If the scammers could scan your device for malware, they’d skip a few steps and just swipe all your information directly.

Yeah, and also search for “pervert” around here for discussions of one of the other common scams. That one is a creatively-written (and false) email solicitation for free money.
