How can I achieve the best scan quality on my iPhone 15 and 16 Pro Max?

I have an iphone 15 and a 16 pro max and would like to scan several oversized vintage photos at highest resolution. How can i set the iphone to maximize the capabilities to scan these photos to get a high quality image?

You may Capture Stunning Details of Your Vintage Photos with an iPhone

  1. Optimal Setup:
    1. Illuminate: Find a well-lit area with even, diffused light (natural light or a diffuser is ideal).
    2. Stabilize: Secure your iPhone 15 or 16 Pro Max on a tripod or steady surface to prevent camera shake. Clean the camera lens for crystal-clear images.
    3. Use a good quality Tripod and a Stabiliser (Gimbal) if possible.
  2. iPhone Camera Settings:
    1. Maximize Quality:
      1. All iPhones: Select "High Efficiency" in Camera Settings > Formats.
      2. iPhone 16 Pro Max: Enable ProRAW and set resolution to 48MP. Take Apple ProRAW photos with your iPhone camera
    2. Capture: Use the primary wide-angle lens (1x) and keep the camera parallel to the photo.
    3. Use Level to keep the camera parallel to the Photos --> Use iPhone as a level
  3. Enhance and Refine ProRAW Magic: Edit ProRAW images in Photos or Lightroom to enhance colors and details.
  4. Using a Bluetooth remote with a tripod is an excellent way to capture steady, high-quality photos or scans that usually comes with a good quality tripod.
