How to have numbers and letters on the keyboard at the same time

Work transitioned us from Android to Iphone and many conveniences are gone---how do you get a keyboard option that has both numbers and letters visible simultaneously. Toggling almost doubles my keystrokes due to content

On an iPhone or iPad, how can I prevent the numbers & symbols keyboard layout from switching back to the letters layout when I press the spacebar? I would like to be able use spaces in numbers and formulas, but the keyboard layout always switches back from numbers & symbols layout to the alphabet layout whenever the spacebar is used. One very useful trick is that you can touch and hold either the shift or number shift keys, then slide over to a letter or number, and release. That allows accessing the keys you wish quickly without fully toggling back and forth.
