My podcast keeps shutting off. What do I do?

I have shut down my phone reopened the podcast multiple times over multiple days. It seems to have started up with the last operating system update.

Podcast app repeating a few seconds after interruption Since the latest update this issue has started. If I listen to a podcast and it gets interrupted by an advert in another app, when it restarts (on muting the ad) it skips back a few seconds, so I hear the same thing again.
