Where's the little picture on the startup display?

I just set up my new Mac Mini, to replace my iMac. On the old iMac, when I booted up, there was the "screensaver" graphic, the space to type in my password, and above that a little round picture. That was a picture of my kids when they were little. My new Mini doesn't have that; it has a generic picture of a bird. Where is my picture of my kids stored, and how can it reinsert it there?

Thanks

Mac mini, macOS 15.2

I can't tell you where you've stored the picture of your children. I would assume that pic is in your Photos library, though it could be in any folder. Regardless, if that photo is stored on the Mac you can use it for the user account login picture. The following works just fine for me.

From the link above:

  1. ❝On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Users & Groups  in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
  2. Click the picture next to your login name, then do any of the following:
    • Select a Memoji: Click Memoji, then click  to select and compose a facial image. Or select one of the displayed Memoji, then select a pose and style you like.
    • Select an emoji: Click Emoji, then click  to select an image from the emoji library. Or select one of the displayed emoji and select a style.
    • Select a monogram: Click Monogram, select a background color, then enter initials.
    • Take a picture using your Mac camera: Click Camera. Set up your shot, then click . You can retake the photo as many times as you need to. See Update your user picture using Photo Booth.
    • Select a photo from your Photos library: Click Photos. To see photos from a specific album, click the album you want, then select a photo. ❞

OK, that didn't work. The display shown in your example doesn't show up on my computer. In my Users & Groups, I just get:

[My Name. Admin]

[Guest user. off]

Add group Add user

Automatically log in as off

Network account server edit

My home desktop is running OS 15.2. The only place the picture of my kids still shows up is in Messages: the top listing is the string with my wife, and the picture shows up there. Where is that stored, and how can I access it to put it in the main login logo on my computer?

Thanks
