Send-later once worked to androids

For the last couple months I’ve been able to use the new “send later” delayed text message function not only to iPhones but also to Androids. Mysteriously this morning the button for “send later” is missing when I try to send a delayed message to an android phone, though the button is still there for delayed messages to iPhones. Software update, resetting iMessage, turning airplane mode on and back

off etc does nothing to fix it. Anyone know of a fix for this?

iMessage: Scheduled messages are encrypted and stored on Apple servers only until they’re sent. When a message is sent, it’s removed from Apple servers, the balloon becomes a solid color, and its dashed line disappears.

SMS/MMS messages are not stored in the Apple Server.

As of now, the iOS Messages app does not have a built-in feature to schedule SMS messages for later sending, whether to other iPhones or Android devices.

In fact, in spite of what is published by Apple and others online, and what you’re affirming, I was most certainly using Apple “send later” function to the androids. I do not have any 3rd party software for this! I was quite surprised by this, but more surprised when it unceremoniously stopped working.
