Unable to call or text recently deleted contacts on my iPhone

Back in either 2017 or 2018 I saw on Instagram you can permanently delete a contact and I did the steps this is not the regular block or delete then you can re-add I have tried adding their number back and it will let me save to contacts but my texts or calls will not go through and I’m not blocked on their end. Is there anything I can do?

iPhones do not prevent you from calling or texting a person just because a contact is deleted or added, as long as the person is not blocked. If you delete a contact from your device, it only removes the saved details from your contacts list, but it doesn’t block communication. You can still call or text that person by entering their phone number manually or if you have a previous message thread with them.

Similarly, if you add a contact, you can still reach them as usual through their phone number, as long as they aren't blocked. The main exception is if you've explicitly blocked that person, in which case calls and texts (as well as FaceTime) would be prevented regardless of whether they are in your contacts list.
