Crashes in Music App on MacOS

Greets:

I am having issues with the Music app on MacOS crashing.

I have a playlist folder with three nested playlist folders, and each of them with playlists. I am on another unrelated playlist outside of the folders with tracks that I'd like to drag from its list into one of the playlists inside the nested folders.

I am able to drag a song, maybe two. But then when I attempt to select or drag a song to the nested playlist, the Music app crashes. This has hapened several more times.

This is unusual and a bit frustrating. I am not sure how to deal with it, but would love to get some assistance on sorting that out.

I'm on MacOS 15.2. I have a pretty spec out M1 Max MacBook Pro. I did attempt to restart and try again, but same issue has happened.

Thanks,

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 15.2

Not sure how helpful it'll be, but it was suggested to me from someone else fairly knowledgeable about such things that I do the following, which I did last night.

  1. Export the library as an XML file from the File menu.
  2. Close Music.
  3. Hold down the Option key and open the Music app. A window will appear, and you should choose the option to create a new library.
  4. Go to the File menu to import the XML file you saved; the option will say something like import playlists.

This is a process that could take awhile to do, so best to leave it running for awhile.

This is what I've done. I have not tested it out yet to see if it resolved my issues yet, but I do know that sometimes having a fresh XML file generated may alleviate some issues.

Hope this might help you out.

I am having a different problem, same app, on 15.2 The Music app suddenly will not import or let me add files. There is room on the drive, the files are fine, I can drag the file in and the green + shows up but the file doesn't "take." Same if I use the Command-O nothing happens. I have rebooted, rebooted in Safe Mode, tried with different files, nada. Anyone else or any wisdom on this one? Thanks in advance.
