if I get a call while my iPhone 16 is on screen lock, I cannot select the green phone icon to answer it. I have to open the phone app and answer the call from there. This is a new phone, have had it about a month.
This has happened consistently, I have to go to the app and click the button from there to answer the call.

There is no slider, it’s the green phone icon and it appears at the top of the screen on my iPhone 16 when a call comes in and the screen is locked.
i think this is something new, in the latest iOS. This started with iOS 18 and I now have 18.2.
If you receive a call when the iPhone is locked, you should see the slider to answer the call. You should only see the green and red buttons for phone calls if the iPhone is unlocked.

They are only editable for around 15 minutes after they have been created. After that point, they cannot be edited.
Okay, then this is when the iPhone is unlocked. That allow you to answer the phone without getting out of the app/screen you happen to be in. if you cannot select the green button there, just tap on the black portion of the notification and it should open to a full screen. Then try to tap on the green button which should appear towards the bottom of the screen.
I’m sorry, I Was wrong about the screen being locked. The problem is with the screen not responding when I tap the green phone icon at the top right,and it forces me to open the phone app and answer from there. So I just contacted Apple support and they ran diagnostics but everything is okay. Then I asked if the issue could be from the screen protector being too thick and they agreed that’s possible. I was given a thick screen protector when I bought the phone and now will contact that provider to see about swapping it for a thinner one. Supposedly the thick one protects the screen more if you drop the phone… but it is likely the cause of non-responsiveness in certain areas of the screen.
