Quicktime 10.5 (1216.2) recording issue on macOS Sequoia

I have seen many people reporting issues with the new version of Quicktime (mentioned in title) once you upgrade to Sequoia. I have an issue when recording from a Sony camcorder, and getting the message the recording has been stopped. When can an update on Quicktime be expected?

It doesn’t ask you where you would like to save the file prior to starting the recording. You only select that once it is done and you then hit save and select the location you want to save.

actually, you can set the location before hand. you can use the keyboard shortcut "shift-command-5" to bring up the recording controls. then choose "options".

and then, in those options, you can set your "save to" location.

and if you want to use the same recording options over multiple recordings, choose "Remember Last Selection" as seen in the above options.

what location are you using as your "save to" location? I have, in the past, encountered issues with longer recordings stopping / not saving unexpectedly whenever I have selected anything other than "desktop" as my "save to" location. this has been especially true when "save to" is set to an external drive. so I now use "desktop" as my "save to" every time and afterwards I move them to my desired location manually. I haven't had an issue since.
