Windows App (Remote Desktop) Add a Mac?

I am using the Windows App (Previously Remote Desktop App) on my iPad Pro (m4). I can use this app to access my Windows PC from my iPad and it works flawlessly, its such an amazing experience, you would forget that you are even using the iPad at all.

My hope is for that very same experience when I use a remote desktop app or service for iOS. So far I am unimpressed with all of them, Google Remote Desktop (Good luck finding an app in the Apple Store) does not appear to be a viable option, RVNC Viewer also did not work out so well, and JUMP which seems to be the consensus best choice on must subs online...

It would be amazing if I could just use a single app (Ideally, Windows App) that works as beautifully as the Windows App does.

Is this at all possible?

Sorry I forgot to also mention that I used Splashtop, was not finding that to be as crisp as the Windows App.

I apologize as well for the image I am sharing being oriented 90 degrees. That is how it uploaded. But for reference I wanted to show an image of me running the Windows App from my iPad to access my Raspberry Pi Remote Desktop. So I am baffled that I am unable to get the Mac connected at all :(

Is this just a me thing or an Apple thing?...

Perhaps something here will help:

If not, contact Microsoft Support or ask in Microsoft's own community forums. Both ends of this involving Microsoft products, you'll be more likely to get help there.

Sorry, but I missed somehow that you were trying to access a Mac. You cannot use Microsoft's Windows App to remotely control a Mac, only a Windows system. If you want to remote-control a Mac, you'll need to use another solution. I'm unclear on whether you're trying to control your Mac from your iPad, or you want to control it from some other device. If it's from an iPad, you can try this:

or look into a third-party solution such as TeamViewer or LogMeIn.

I sincerely appreciate everybody’s suggestions.

Unfortunately, I think you are correct about Windows App unable to access a Mac. As far as I can tell it has nothing to do with the Windows setup, and everything to do with Mac just not allowing the connection.

Which for me, certainly places Apple a rung below Windows if they were not already…

Also I would not say that the Windows App is exclusive to accessing only Windows PCs. In the photo I shared I was using Windows App and remote into my Raspberry Pi, with absolutely no issues. The experience is phenomenal using the Windows app to access the Windows PC or the Pi. The GUI experience is simply beautiful.

I am using Jump if I want to remote into the Mac. But it’s not at all as crisp, or as clean as using the Windows App.

This again for me is a big ding for Apple. I have been an iOS via iPhone/iPad user for almost 2 decades. However, I have been developing web applications using a windows PC/laptop just as long.

Recently, I decided I wanted to start developing applications for Apple devices. My goal is to delve into Swift and use Xcode. However, simply because of this accessibility issue with the Windows App, I am reconsidering that perhaps I should just abandon Mac for any development purposes and stick to Windows PC.

Microsoft would need to build their app to connect to a Mac, something that they are unlikely to do, though you can suggest it to them. There is nothing Apple could do about this other than massively re-engineer macOS, and I can just about guarantee that's not going to happen.

Otherwise, either look for another solution that works as you wish, some of which have already suggested, or go back to using Windows devices, whatever you feel suits you best.
