Unable to update 2015 iMac running Mojave 10.14.6 to macOS Monterey

I have a late 2015 iMAC running Mojave 10.14.6. I have repeatedly tried to upgrade to macOC Monterey but every time i download the file i get an error message saying "This copy of the install macOS Monterey application is damaged, and can't be used to install macOS." I have tried numerous times using wifi and even hard wired to mac to my router be get the same result every time. Anyone have suggestions? Is my system just too old?

What is your process to initiate this upgrade?

Are you starting at System Preferences > Software Update?

Try download the upgrade installer directly from the App Store?

That download is located here:

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/macos-monterey/id1576738294

Use Safari to download this. Other browsers may not work.
