Reply button not working on Apple Discussions

I’m trying to reply to other people’s discussions but the button won’t work. I can’t reply to other people to help them out. Any suggestions how to fix this bug? Please and thank you.

Rather than a bug, it sounds like you are trying to respond to a thread the has been locked due to age or inactivity. That happens a lot when you com here from a search engine—engines seldom show if a thread is locked. Look for this banner near the top of a discussion:

Recommendations for giving your most effective help here:

  • Don't use a search engine to come here. Too often they will lead you to locked threads goin back decades.
  • Instead, bookmark this Apple site map showing all forum topic areas: Site Map - Apple Community
  • From that list, find the topic areas where you feel you can contribute the most.
  • Use the site map links to go that those topics.
  • Work the NEWEST questions first.

After a very long time here, I've observed that few people who post a question will come back weeks or months later to see if new responses have been added.

For asking questions by adding your issue, or "exact same problem," to an existing thread, best practice is "don't. It is very hard for us to help more than one person per thread. Tag-ons confuse the responders and dilute the attention the original poster ("OP") deserves. No one gets flamed here for starting a new thread.

Tagging on an existing question with a "me too" is much like someone barging into a doctor's exam room to ask about his issue while the doctor is treating someone else.
