Continuity Camera not working *wirelessly* in Sequoia

I've had Continuity Camera working in FaceTime on my MacBook Pro running Ventura. I migrated that computer to a Mac mini M4 Pro running Sequoia and now FaceTime tells me to connect a camera. In the Video menu the only option is Automatic Camera Selection, which is enabled.

My iPhone 13 Mini is next to the computer, awake and locked. No settings have changed since it worked with the MBP.

Can anyone help me troubleshoot this?

Edit to add that I just connected the iPhone to the Mac via USB and Continuity Camera now works. I'd still like to get it working wirelessly, though.

  • Hi, I have M4 mini Mac OS 15.2 and iPhone 13 Pro Max os 16.2, Just had chat with apple boffin and the end result is that due to privacy concerns and not wanting Macs without cameras to stream by default, Macs without built-in Cameras need to be connected to the device with camera via a wired connection for the camera to be made available. Also I have an iPad Air with os 18.2 but camera is not available as continuity camera. Furthermore please check on these settings

  • • Continuity Camera Webcam is enabled in Settings > General > AirPlay & Handoff
  • • iPhone recognizes Mac as a trusted computer
  • • iPhone and Mac both have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and two-factor authentication enabled
  • • iPhone and Mac are signed in with the same Apple ID
  • • iPhone is not sharing it’s cellular connection and Mac is not sharing it’s internet connection

However, While camera is working connected I disconnected the cable and phone camera still works

Hope this is of use to you

I own an iPhone 11 (model A2111) and am encountering an issue where the camera and microphone don’t work in continuity mode. On the other hand, the mirroring app appears to be functioning correctly, although I’m not entirely certain about its purpose. Initially, I tried using it wirelessly, but I haven’t connected to the Mac directly since then, and I still can’t use the camera for FaceTime. Does anyone have any insights into why I’m experiencing this problem?
