Text effects not working (IOS 18 version)

The new IOS 18 update is supposed to come with new text effects in iMessages, such as shake, ripple, jitter, and so on. I have IOS 18.2.0 installed, but the text effects feature does not work for me.

The text effect option shows up automatically on my wife’s iPhone but on my iPhone I have to press/hold after the text until pop up menu opens then scroll right to “text effect” option. It is to the right of “select” and “select all”.
