Logic Pro hangs when playing back bounce-in-place "too quickly"

Just like the title says. Logic Pro 11.1.1 hangs indefinitely (spinning beach ball) if I start playback too quickly after bouncing a midi file in place (to a new track). It's like I need to give Logic a rest first before hitting play. If I watch the CPU meter and wait for it to calm down (5-10 seconds) and then hit play, everything works as expected.

Obviously very frustrating because what's the first thing you're instinctively going to do after bouncing a midi region in place - probably listen to it. Now I have to remember to always wait 10 seconds after bouncing. Otherwise I am force-quitting Logic.

Anyone else experience this?

Other info: I am bouncing midi regions from Spectrasonics Keyscape and Trillian software instruments. Right clicking the regions and selecting bounce in place to new audio track, with "include audio tail" OFF.
