Mac Studio power on/off problem fixed

My Mac Studio, bought a year ago, would not start when I would press the power button (the white LED light would quickly flash but nothing would happen), or it would only boot after trying again 20 minutes later. It would also randomly turn off when I was not using it. I took it to an Apple-certified service center in Brussels. A technician dismissed software issues, then installed a new mother board and disk. To no avail.

What did fix the problem was changing the computer's POWER SUPPLY UNIT. It took weeks for this ordered piece of hardware to be shipped and delivered. Hope others with the same problem can get to the solution faster.

Mac Studio, macOS 15.1

Good story. Thanks for sharing your experience!

These desktop units have an unusual power inlet, that has a larger surface area than a standard electronics IEC cord. in a few cases (but obviously NOT yours) a solution to wonky power problems is to JAM the power plug on the computer into that socket really hard. Sometimes that will make a slightly better connection, and all is well.
