iOS Podcasts, can’t stop continuous play

Continuous play is deselected in Settings but won’t stop. Problem appeared on iOS 18.1 on iPhone 15 pro but not straight after an update, just started one night. Update to 18.2 doesn’t fix it. Others appear to have seen this but thread closed. Anyone found a way out?

Checking the Podcast Settings Continuous Play is not selected and is set to Off. However Podcasts play continuously anyway. What can I do to stop this behavior?

Podcast Continuous Playback Cannot be turned off permanently On iphone 15 pro, ios 18.0.1. Obviously, I start by going into settings, apps, podcasts and turn off continuous playback. That is what should work... forever. However, after a few days of toggling the switch, I will finish a podcast and the iphone continues to play the next podcast. I toggle it on and off and it works immediately... but will not remain and will start continuous playback even with the toggle off.

Podcast app plays 5-10 seconds then stops podcasts play short segment then stop; pressing play results in same result. iPhone 12 always updated podcast app deleted, reloaded 2x. phone rebooted 3x. 3 different podcast channels/shows tested. no difference when audio routed to internal speaker, corded headphones, or Bluetooth external. the big app rewrite made the app less effective; now it's a complete fail. Thx Apple
