Apple Pay not available, Mac Studio M1Max

Just noticed this today, and have not idea how to correct it. I use Apple Pay all the time on my iPhone and iWatch, and occasionally on my desktop

Setttings>Wallet & Apple Pay

Apple Pay has been disabled because the security settings of this Mac were modified

now, Settings, below my name

Update Apple Account Settings (there is a solid red circle with a number 1 in it)

click ‘Update Apple Account Settings’

I get a ‘continue’ button, click it and the ‘Update’ and red circle disappear. However it has come back a while later.

Please create a new admin user account. Once logged into the new account try to add a card. If it you’re notified there is another Apple Pay account and do you want to reset it, say yes reset. Add a card. Once added, log out and go back to your original admin account, try to add a card. When it says there is already an Apple Pay account, do you want to reset, say yes and add your card. This should enable you to add cards.

I discovered the same issue on my Me Mac - I've never changed the security settings - how do I undo this? Sorry, but the "Please create a new user account" --try this, log out, log back in, etc instructions are not what I'm looking for--- I should not have to go through all of that - I didn't create this problem - Apple should have a fix for this beyond the above - I'm not trying to add a new card
