Warranty and Purchase Date Issue on My iPhone

Hello, Apple Community,

I recently discovered an issue with my iPhone. The serial number correctly identifies my device, but the purchase date displayed on Apple’s website is incorrect, showing “April 1978.” Additionally, when I activated my iPhone last year, the warranty was already expired, even though I had just purchased it.

Unfortunately, I no longer have the purchase receipt. Has anyone faced a similar issue? How can I resolve this with Apple and potentially get compensation for the warranty issue?

Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

A friend of mine ran into this exact problem last year with the exact date issue. Did you get it fixed? do you mind sharing how you got it fixed if you did?

If you believe the information shown for your product is incorrect, you can submit your proof of purchase online

Your sales receipt is needed for Apple’s Limited Warranty, AppleCare Protection Plan, and AppleCare+ validation, so be sure to keep it in a safe place. Apple’s Limited Warranty is the same whether or not you register.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, I no longer have the sales receipt as I lost it. Is there any alternative way to correct the purchase date or validate the warranty without the receipt?

The serial number is correctly identifying my device, but the incorrect purchase date (April 1978) and expired warranty were present from the day I activated my iPhone. Can Apple verify this information through the activation records or any other method?

I would appreciate any guidance on how to proceed in this situation.

Thank you!

Apple has not marketed the 14 Pro Max for well over a year. If you have a “new” unit, it would appear it has been purchased from an unauthorized retailer. Further, it is likely that the model number will start with “3 or 5”. If this is the situation, it would indicate that it has been refurbished by a source other than Apple. Any warranty will be provided by the retailer. Contact that retailer for details.
