Speaker rattles in 16 pro

So I went to the Apple Store and tested mine device together with 6 different 16 pro and 16 pro Max models. Whenever you are listening to an audio that’s a high note, like for example a FaceTime call or when you are speaking through a speaker the top speaker starts to rattle. It also occurs while listening to music when audio is above 60% and you are listening to some high notes - tested it on Ariana grande 7 rings official audio both YouTube and Apple Music. I tested every device in same conditions and it happened to them all. Is apple aware of that and working on a fix? It or they don’t care about their customers. Imagine spending more than 1000$ on a device and the construction flaw makes it worse than your 3 years old 13 pro…. 13 pro was a masterpiece. This 16 series is a joke to me. Thinking of swapping to another ecosystem.

IF you were at the Apple store why not ask the people at the Genius bar?

Why would you leave just to come right a post, when you can get the answer there?

Doesn't make sense.

Hi Jeff,

That’s interesting that you don’t actually hear that. Try to set your volume to full and call your wife on FaceTime and do it the other way around. It would be the best if she would not pick up the phone so you can hear the sound of FaceTime calling sound as long as possible. Also try to set it to full and call on messenger while being on a speaker. I can clearly hear that even if I have the volume set to 70% but you can go up to 100%. For me the sound quality of the top speaker comparing it to my 13 pro is terrible. In 13 pro it don’t rattle at all and is also much louder when I am talking with somebody through the speaker. 16 pro really annoys me in this matter, as most of the times I am talking through my speakers and I can hear crackling on phone calls every time the sounds pitch higher.

I don’t have a 16 Pro, but I do have a 16 Pro Max and my wife has a 15 Pro. I played Ariana Grande 7 Rings and we certainly didn’t hear any rattling. It sounds like music coming out of tiny speakers to us. No more, nothing less, but nothing out of the ordinary.

We then listened on a pair of HomePods first gen and the music had full tonal range and quality. It sounded nothing like the iPhones and that’s a good thing. I expect tiny speakers to have mediocre sound when compared to $350 USD speakers.

I don’t buy top end smartphones for their audio quality. It’s unrealistic to expect superb sound out of such small speakers. No offense, but I don’t think your expectations are reasonable. The top of the line Androids don’t sound as loud or as good as iPhones.

Turn any speaker up to 100% and it will distort. It’s possible earlier models may have been louder and Apple felt it was too loud for health and safety reasons.

The older iPhones would be running newer iOS and have their levels reduced as well.

How is my story changing when I did not mention Genius Bar in my problem? You were the one that mentioned it and I did not know what that is. I just found out that you have something like that in the Us. In Poland we don’t have apple care and even proper Apple Store. There are just these type of premium resellers and I call them Apple Stores. We actually have a one big chain and it’s called ispot. Not sure why would I lie. I am just having an annoying issue with my speaker and wanted some help from the community… just go and read some posts on Reddit regarding this matter. People there are much more helpful….

The 16 pro is too quiet for me. In comparison to 13 pro I have a feeling that the 13 model is much louder at lower volumes. What I mean is that the 100% on 16 pro feels to me like 70% on the 13 pro. I think that it is software related as it occurs only in phone/facetime/messenger calls and not while listening to music. That’s why I turn it up to 100%, nonetheless it should not rattle, even at 100%. 13 pro does not do that.
