loading photo into image directory from arbitrary directory?

When I try to load a photo into Image Playground from a directory, I am presented with a listing of directories that I can load from. Many of the images I want to load are not available from the options shown.

Is there a way to navigate to an arbitrary directory to find other images to load?

Locating photos in Finder I resized a photo in Preview and I tried to export it to Photos. I located my Photos Library in the Pictures folder in Finder, but the file I want the exported photo to go to "2023" is not shown. I know I could use the "Photos Library" file but it is grayed out. Where do I go from here? Also, there are old folders I used to use in iphoto. Should I delete them?

where are the actual pictures in the photolibrary? I made a photo library on an external HD which I approach with the Photos app. It is a very nice way to view my pictures, but I wonder if there is a way to approach the actual pictures that I imported in this library?

Deleting a photo from library also removes it from folder Why is it when I drag a photo from the library into a folder… I try to then delete it from library, but it also deletes it from the folder. [Re-Titled by Moderator]
