iPhone 15 Pro: Loose USB-C? Read this
This is not a question but a tip for those with a loose USB-C iPhone charging cable:
- My iPhone 15 Pro USB-C cable was very very loose. To the point where it didn’t click into place and the slightest breeze would make the cord stop charging. I thought for sure the port was broken. (I tried many different cables, too)
- Here’s how I fixed it so it’s as good as new: I removed the imperceptible lint in the port opening.
- Be careful— don’t stick anything metal, sticky, liquid, etc. What I did was cut a postcard into little triangle shapes and scooped out tiny clumps of lint.
- It takes a while and you have to keep making new triangles so the tip is crisp. And you have to go at different angles.
- Once you start cleaning out chunks you’ll get a feel for how much “depth” there truly is and then you can focus your efforts on those areas deep within the port.
- Think about this: Lint builds up from your pocket and small amounts get into the port. Then when you plug in the cable you’re actually compacting the lint into the opening. Over time it just gets worse and worse.
- I can’t emphasize enough how certain I was that my hardware was faulty and now, after carefully and safely cleaning out clumps of lint, my iPhone 15 Pro feels brand new again. Nice satisfying click when I insert the cable. Don’t lose hope!
