iPhone SE iOS 18.1.1 and 18.2 Notes app crashes after nnn seconds unable to use

Dear Community,

I updated iOS to 18.1.1 a couple of weeks ago since when I've been unable to use the Notes app which previously was an important productivity tool. Last night I updated to 18.2 but it hasn't fixed it, it still crashes after several seconds? I posted this a week ago in the iOS community but haven't received any response so I thought I'd try here.

Update: I just ran a test on my MacBook creating a test note to see if it would sync to my iPhone. I was able to check momentarily before it crashed after a few seconds and it had sync'd, the note was there, but I can only access it for a few seconds.

I have the same problem using an iPhone SE (2020), it started with ios 18.0 and 18.2. The phone has used 114gb out of 256gb. I tried everything mentioned on the internet to resolve the problem and the only work around was to use my Macbook Pro or iPad for the iCloud synced notes and then send a copy (airdropped) from the Mac or iPad to my phone to update the note on the phone (iPhone keeping the notes as "stored on phone", not connected to iCloud). So the phone now has basically a photo of the current note, which only gets updated when I airDrop it a new note from the computer or iPad).

Thank you Duane, your workaround is sound.

I've reluctantly accepted that iCloud sync is now broken on my iPhone Notes and using my iPad Mini instead with pre ios 18 but it's not as convenient.

I'm running a lovely old MacBook Pro crammed with RAM which still flies like the wind but its version of OSX has been obsolete for some time now due to Apple's limited period of backward compatability and I think this might be the root cause of the sync issue.

In closing, and for anyone else that might be having the same problem these are the workarounds/solutions I think are available:

Your workaround as detailed in your reply.
Remove ios18 and return to ios17 (this is a bit fraught though, and ios18 features are forfeited on other apps).
Use a less convenient device such as I'm currently doing with my iPad Mini
Upgrade OSX to an iteration that is compatible with ios18 (that's if backward compatibility is the culprit)

UPDATE. Backward compatibility doesn't seem to be the problem. I upgraded my MacBook Pro so it could run Sequoia but the issue is exactly as before. This is a real pain. I'll try uninstalling Notes, reinstalling, and then iCloud sync. I'll get back with any findings
