Can I revert to the Mail App after the iOS 18.2 update
Just updated to 18.2. The Mail App is terrible. I just want it to be how it was, I don’t know, the entire time I’ve been in the iOS ecosystem. You know, like 10+ years.

I have the same question. I absolutely hate the mail update. Who ever thought that was a good idea must really hate humanity.
I guess you don’t use gmail, Hotmail, Outlook, AOL, Yahoo or almost every other modern mail client. Apple is just catching up, but at least Apple lets you turn off the new features, unlike most of the others. And, believe it or not, your opinion is not the only one on this or any other subject.

The new email format that came along with the latest IOS upgrade is AWFUL,
and selecting the “list” option doesn’t help much. Bring the former, more simple in every way, format back.
Apple doesn't read here for feedback or suggestions. You can, however, let them know your thoughts here:
Meanwhile, perhaps consider trying one of the many other email apps available. Outlook seems to be popular among people who don't like Mail.

I think you're confusing "innovation" and "change for the sake of change"...
This change is a bunch of mediocre folks trying to keep themselves busy.
Then switch platforms and see if the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. Denigrating Apple software engineers will likely get you ignored in the future. And just because YOU don’t like changes that does not mean others don’t either. Apple responds to feedback just like every other consumer oriented company. It does surveys about what customers want to see in additional features or options. If you wish to express your opinions to Apple then submit feedback, which Apple guarantees they will read but not necessarily respond to.

Like others here, I dislike the update. I followed the suggestions to eliminate the dysfunctional categories, but I still have big circles next to each email that clutter up my view. Any way to get rid of these too? They take up too much space, and I keep accidentally "selecting" emails.
You need to realize that those features are there because users asked for them. Like all big companies Apple conducts surveys and customer focus groups to find out what users are asking for. Apple also has a Feedback website where users can suggest features, changes, and report bugs. Just because YOU don't like them doesn't mean no one else does either. Try thinking outside of your own box.
As for those “big circles” the instructions on how to disable them are contained in the posts above yours. Have you thought about reading any previous posts? It’s easy to remove them. Start reading.

No one participating in this forum can change how your iPhone works. If you want Apple to know your thoughts, use the feedback page:
However, as was already pointed out by lkrupp, you can revert to the list view. Directions have been provided.

As previously discussed, NOBODY ever reads a thread before adding to it. If people did every thread would have only a few replies, not the current 6 pages for this one of 60 for another “popular” thread.

My personal feedback is that I would appreciate it if Apple included the information on how to opt or how to revert to the earlier look of mail along with the update.
Have you given that feedback to Apple?
Well, I’m glad I never sent anyone to your training.
Your answer does not solve ANY of the issues that people have posted in this thread, and the threading settings haven’t changed in 10 years.
I posted the actual answer several times in this thread. Here is one of them: Can I revert to the Mail App after the iO… - Apple Community

I’d like to know how to put it back too. The update for email is total garbage. Hopefully they will give us the option to go back. This list view is no better. If apple wont listen hopefully someone finds a solve to share.
Have you told Apple how you feel?

It is not possible to revert to the previous version of Mail. However, you can make adjustments in the new version that may make it easier to user. Look for Lawrence Finch's post of March 17th.
You can also let Apple know your thoughts here:
You may also want to consider looking at another email program. I'd start with Outlook.
To remove the icons in the list view:
To turn off Categories:
These 2 steps will return the Mail app to the way it previously worked.
“Different” and “Terrible” are not the same thing. Apple has added features already available in gmail, outlook, MS Exchange, AOL and many other email apps. If you don’t like these new FEATURES you can turn them off.

I can understand not wading through the 12 pages of this thread, where this has been explained many times, so here it is:
To remove the icons in the list view:
To turn off Categories:
These 2 steps will return the Mail app to the way it previously worked.
You can sort threads by oldest, newest, or most upvoted. Unfortunately, the default is the most upvoted. Click on your icon at the top right and choose preferences, and you can choose a more logical sort order.
As the thread is hard to follow:
To remove the icons in the list view:
To turn off Categories:
These 2 steps will return the Mail app to the way it previously worked.
