iMovie on iPhone 15 Pro Max hangs

iMovie on iphone 15 Pro Max wants full access to my photo library. I had limited access selected and prefer to keep it that way. However even after selecting full access the app hangs when I click continue. I just installed 18.2

I was going to create a short clip that could be uploaded to FB. When I opened iMovie and selected create movie the app opened and allowed me to select the clip in my Photos library. But then it said iMovie needs “full” access. I went to Settings and gave it full access but when I went back to iMovie and clicked continue the app seemed to hang.
