I’m having an issue where if my friend is in Do Not Disturb, and I accidentally click “Notify Anyways”, it continues to send notifications, even if I want my messages to deliver quietly again.

Stop notifications for a conversation
.When Hide Alerts is on, the Alerts buttonappears next to the conversation. This stops notifications only for that conversation, not your device. You’ll receive all other messages and see notifications for them on your Lock Screen.

This is not helpful. The issue resolved itself overnight - it seems Notify Anyways works on a duration basis.
