2024 Mac Mini external hard drive

Have a OWC MiniStack STX external hard drive that I bought in 2022 and could not use because my old Mac mini was too old. Just purchased a 2024 Mac mini and bought a new Thunderbolt cable for it. It does not recognize the external hard drive. Does not show up anywhere.

What is wrong?

Mac mini, macOS 15.1

Other World Computing – miniStack STX

That's a Thunderbolt expansion chassis with internal space for two drives: a 2.5" SATA notebook HDD or SSD, and a M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD. It has three downstream USB-C (Thunderbolt) ports.

You can buy it with, or without, drives installed. If you bought the DIY Enclosure with no drives installed, it would be normal not to see any drives in Finder or in Disk Utility. The enclosure should show up under the USB4/Thunderbolt section of System {Report/Information} whether it is one with drives installed, or not.
