How can I use both Wi-Fi and Ethernet on my Mac mini?
I just moved to a stone cottage with issues around wifi connectivity to my Mac Mini M2 Pro due to the thick walls and not having a clear line of sight to the router.
I have set up an Ethernet network setup which is great for connection speeds (20 times the speed of the tricky Wifi) but means I miss out on not being able to AirDrop to the Mac Mini as it's not on the Wifi network.
If I have both turned on, but with Ethernet set as top priority, they cancel each other out and I have no internet connection, if I have Wifi as top priority it works ok but only to Wifi connection speeds which can be very low.
If I switch between them I have to turn them both off before turning the other on which means I lose streaming etc. I realise this is all manageable but it would be great if there was a way to have both on and get the benefits of each.
Is there a setting I can adjust in my network settings that will allow me to prioritise Ethernet for internet connection but allow for Wifi connections for file sharing?
Thanks in advance!
