iMovie on iPhone freezes after library permissions granted

Fixed issue - with IMovie wanting permission for music - quickly with Apple support

open iMovie

when in doubt call apple support - had to be switched around a lil BUT worth it for immediate accuracy

didn’t want to delete app and start over bc I have projects immune works

Quit iMovie (swipe the app upward to open the App Switcher and flick the app upward to quit it). Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos > iMovie and see if you can grant access there. Do the same in Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos > Media & Apple Music.

Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [device], tap Reset, then tap Reset Location & Privacy.

When your location and privacy settings are reset, apps will stop using your Location Services information until you grant them permission.

I installed updated OS and it didn’t help. I deleted the app and reinstalled it again, lost all my projects but that allowed me to use it. And all my libraries were fully accessible for the app by default. Yes, I’m angry.

I simply re-installed iMovies - good to go.

Sadly I had to delete iMovie then reinstall it. I lost all of my projects but it works now.

Resetting location and privacy worked for me. Thank you.

I had the same problem! Here’s how I fixed it:

• *very important* Apple Music MUST be installed on your iPad first.
• Settings - Privacy & Location - Files and Folders - Uncheck iMovie.
• Settings - General Settings - Transfer or Reset iPad - Reset (it’ll open a menu) - Reset Location and Privacy
• Open iMovie - Continue - Allow every permission Apple wants you to hand over - Give it your soul if need be
• iMusic should now show up in Settings - Privacy & Security with iMovie checked, now that you’ve given it permission.
• Download all raw data and never trust Apple again.

Exact same issue with iMovie on iPhone 14 Pro. Apparently started with an app update two days ago. Tried everything. Would delete and reinstall but fear losing projects.

My iMovie opens, lets me select images in my limited setting. I don’t want to give out full access to my images. It asks for access to my music, I say yes… then it just freezes on the stupid “iMovie Needs Access” screen. It says it requires full access. Which I don’t want to give it… there was a limited access option last week… this app has been functioning for me almost daily for years… what’s wrong now???

All that is done, iMovie has full access, but the app freezes anyways.

Same issue. iMovie will not launch. I even downloaded apple music (gross), and it didn't help.
