I think iMovie just updated (Version 3.0.4) but even though I accepted the new permissions, the pop up refuses to leave. I thought it just needed time to load, but it’s been loading for TWO HOURS. I have a lot of school projects that need to get done and this update is screwing me over.
What should I do? I really don’t want to delete anything, but I’m running out of time….

This worked for me (resetting location & privacy settings) as suggested by hugh_giraffe. Went into settings and reset ONLY location & privacy settings. Restarted ipad and then iMovie let me continue by resetting permissions on access to my photo library.

For anyone still having this issue, it looks like Apple has fixed it in a new update released today- iMovie 3.0.5. Hopefully this helps.

Had the same issue, I just deleted the app and reinstalled and it worked fine. Lost the current projects I had but all the videos are in my photo albums so just have to reload. 🤙🏼
someone on reddit suggested resetting location & privacy settings, seems to have worked for some people but not sure what else this resets
Thanks. Tried all suggestions except reloading app because it seems to wipe out projects!
Resets did not work for my friend who is working on a big project to be ready for Christmas.

Just submit a bug report on the Apple Feedback page. I have the same issue, and that’s what I’m going to do.
In the meantime, I’ll probably do what hugh_giraffe suggested and reset my Privacy and Security settings. Although a little annoying, we’ll just have to wait until Apple fixes this, and speaking as a software developer who has dealt with bugs (so annoying), it may take a little, especially when Apple has so much on their mind.

Having the same issue. First it was issues with the photo app now iMovie. Whoever is responsible for creating these updates and pushing them out to users really needs to pay closer attention to their work. So frustrating.
I'm having the same issue on my Iphone. I have tried everything that I can think of. My Ipad did the app update works fine.

This is the only thing that worked for me. Although my old projects didn’t load but I had them saved in photos anyway.
Same here, I wish I hadn't updated it. Nothing seems to work. What a joke. I have to finish a project and present it in two days time and this useless app is stuck. So disappointed.
