I use my mac mini for MainStage. I have that mounted in a rack that gets regularly unplugged between home and gigs. Lifting up the thing isn't a great option. I wish I would've noticed that before I purchased it. It works great otherwise. Maybe mounting it upside down to easily access the button?

If auto start up is not working, then it sounds like plan B (mounting the Mac mini in the rack upside down) is the way to go.
Correct, upside down is fine. Just make sure that there is plenty of open space for air flow.
Go to Apple > System Settings > Energy Saver and turn on "Start up automatically after a power failure"
Shutdown before unplugging and plug in to Start up.
Heat is dissipated from the top as well + it looks ugly, boss will be unimpressed. I would get this

I imagine that, since there are no moving parts, mounting upside down shouldn't be an issue like with standard old fashioned non-ssd hard drives.
If the mac mini m4 is mounted in a rack, how do I power it on without lifting it up??
