"Disc Not Ejected Properly"-

Like everyone else who has complained about this apparently insoluble problem, I get it appearing on my monitor, always in the same area, and always repeatedly. Ten, 15, 20 notices will appear in a vertical column before I need to clear them in order to use the whole monitor. I am using an M1 Mini, ca. 2020, and I had a slightly faulty CD drive attached to it. I removed the CD drive, but the problem "Disc not ejected etc." persists. Anybody got any ideas?

It's not connected at all now, but the notification has shown up since I removed it. By "faulty" I mean that the physical drive itself, the case, etc., has some problems staying in one piece. It's heavily-built, but not well-put-together. It does work, however. OK, I did restart after unplugging the drive (earlier today), and just after upgrading to the latest OS. At the time, it was empty, so no "eject?" notice appeared onscreen. On the other hand, since then, I haven't seen any D.N.E.P notices, either. I'll plug the drive back in and run a disc through it to test this protocol.
