.docx files with graphics and tables

For sometime now, even before upgrading to Sequoia .docx files opened with Pages will not display tables or objects in tables. I get a message that text in tables are displayed. Of course the format of the document is also affected by this.

Very frustrating, I always have to ask for a .PDF in order to read the document.

Pages is not a Word clone and when it opens a Word document it is read-only and a translation attempt is made into Pages own internal document (.pages) format. Where MS Word may allow objects in table cells, Pages does not, nor does it support tables inside other tables as created in Word.

If you want to receive and read Word documents in their native document format, you may wish to use Microsoft Word, a Word clone such as SoftMaker's TextMaker, or potentially, the free LibreOffice Suite. If you have no need to change the Word document content, then PDF overcomes what you are currently experiencing with Pages.
